APC Senator tells S'West governors to reject cattle colony

The federal government has proposed to establish cattle colonies across various states in the country as way of ending the reoccurring farmers/herdsmen clash.
But Senator Olamilekan believes that the proposed cattle colony would not end the crisis between Fulani herdsmen and farmer in the South West.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker while speaking in Abeokuta on Monday, January 29, 2018, called on South East governors to be proactive in finding solutions to attacks by herdsmen in the region.
Olamilekan explained that the federal government’s proposed cattle colonies would destroy the sociocultural way of life of the Yoruba people.
“The controversial cattle colony being considered by the federal government as a solution the herdsmen/farmers clashes should not be considered by any state governments from all Yoruba and as its far reaching socio-economic and political effects promises to destroy the socio-cultural way of life of Yoruba,” he declared.
No cattle colony in Yorubaland - Falae
Chief Olu Falae has advised the Federal Government to perish the thoughts of establishing cattle colonies in any part of Yorubaland.
He criticised President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to take initiative to control the menace of the herdsmen that has resulted in the death of over a hundred Nigerians over the past few weeks.
This is even as the governors of Benue and Plateau have rejected the proposed establishment cattle cononies in their state.
