Lagos State government donates 120 generating sets to police [PHOTOS]

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode also stressed that security was a major agenda of his administration.

Speaking through Mr Oye Hassan-Odukale, Chairman, Lagos Sate Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Governor Akinwunmi Ambode stressed  that security was a major agenda of his administration.

The event took place at the Lagos House.

“The idea of these generating sets came from the Governor because anything about security is of high priority to him.

“We know the situation of security in our country today and we on our part need to be proactive to secure the lives and property of the citizens and make Lagos safe.

“We urge police officers to maintain these generating sets so that they can last longer and serve you well, ” he said.

Dr Abdul-Razak Balogun, Executive Secretary, LSSTF, said the donation was in line with the state Light-Up Lagos project to ensure that every nooks and crannies of the state were well lit.

“It is also in line with Gov. Ambode’s vision for secure and investment friendly Lagos to secure lives and property.

“ I urge the police commands to properly put them to good use for the benefits of residents, ” he said.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Imohimi Edgal, thanked the state government for the gesture and promised to make judicious use of the generating sets.

“You are our most valuable partners in fighting crime in the state. You can imagine the confidence the public will have when they approach a divisional headquarters and area commands and they see the place lit.

“That will give them the confidence that their matter will be properly attended to.

“Power is essential especially in this era of communicating gadgets. You cannot communicate properly with field officers if these gadgets are not well charged.

“So, these generating sets will be of good use to us . We want to assure that these sets will be used for the purpose they were purchased and donated.

“We appreciate this donation from the Lagos State Government, ” he said.
