Ooni-elect begins 21-day solitary confinement

According to a Vanguard source, the Ooni-elect may have called for the meeting to ask the chiefs what was ahead of him in Ilofii.

Ooni-elect, Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has begun the 21-day solitary confinement in Ilofi, place where a would-be Ooni is ‘baked’  for the journey ahead.

The monarch-to-be had received visitors in his residence before holding private meeting with some chiefs on Thursday, October 29.

According to a Vanguard source, the Ooni-elect may have called for the meeting to ask the chiefs what was ahead of him in Ilofi.

“He was in high spirits and exchanged pleasantries with people. He did not panic or wear any look that suggested he was displeased. He remains very calm and expectant,” the source added.

It was gathered thatOgunwusi was led to Ilofi in a convoy of few cars at about 4:40pm by the head of all deities in Ile Ife and other members of Isoro cult.

Sources said once the rites begin in Ilofi, Ooni-elect, will be cut off all visitors except members of Isoro cult.

However, pre-installation rites for the Ooni-elect had taken place at the Obadio of Ife's palace, while rites that do not require the Ooni's presence would go on.
