FRSC to stop accidents with ban of substandard tyres, sealing pastes

The use of food-based and substandard sealing pastes for tyres has been banned, in order to reduce accidents and stop the loss of lives.

FRSC discourages vulcanizers from using food-based and sub-standard sealing pastes to fix bad tyres

According to the Head Media Relations and Strategy of the Corps, Bisi Kazeem, this is part of the FRSC Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi’s plan to reduce accidents and stop the loss of lives.

He also said that the use of these improvised sealing pastes by vulcanizers could lead to rusts on new rims, in both new and sub-standard tyres.

Releasing a statement, Kazeem also revealed that about 5000 Nigerians have lost their lives in tyre burst-related accidents, since 2010 till date.

Motorists and vulcanizers have been advised to steer clear of substandard tyres, non-lubricant rims and fake tyre sealing pastes, as they could lead to accidents.

FRSC is currently on a tyre-awareness campaign.
