A Road Traffic Crash has killed one woman, and left nine passengers with injuries.
Reports say a tyre burst, coupled with overspeeding led to the accident, involving a new paragon bus marked AKD 19 XG.

“What really happened is that it is a lone accident; 13 passengers with the driver, making 14. The tyre burst on speed, the vehicle somersaulted and then fell on its side. A woman with cuts on her head died. Maybe when she was struggling to escape, the door might have cut her.
The accident was fatal and a lot of people were seriously injured. Some suffered upper part of the body injuries; we have those with head injury while others were injured on their legs. There were 10 casualties. Apart from the woman that died, seven of the injured were taken to the Emergency Centre at Toll Gate by LASAMBUS. Family members of two others came to take them away after they were contacted on phone. The driver, who I think sustained minor injury, was whisked away by the policemen from the Adekunle Police Station,” a LASTMA official said.
According to a member of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the accident caused a three-hour traffic gridlock.
“Despite being a work-free day, the traffic was hectic. You can imagine if the accident had occurred on a work day, it (the traffic snarl) could have been worse.
The accident occurred in the morning. It led to a big traffic snarl on the bridge. It took us three hours to free the traffic,” he said.
This accident happened on the Third Mainland Bridge.
