Meet UBA's new group GMD/CEO as he resumes office

Prior to his new position, Uzoka was the banks' deputy managing director, a position he held for the last six years.

Kennedy Uzoka has resumed his position as the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the United Bank of Africa Plc. (UBA).

He will be taking over from Philips Uduoza, who retired as the lenders' GMD/CEO on July31, 2016 after completing two three-year terms.

Prior to his new position, Uzoka was the banks' deputy managing director, a position he held for the last six years. In holding that position, he worked very closely with the now outgoing GMD/CEO.

“Kennedy Uzoka’s appointment has once again proven the resilience of our succession planning process and the value we place on having in place a strong corporate governance system,” said Tony Elumelu, Chairman, UBA, according to a Nigeria CommunicationsWeek report.

Uzoka has over two decades of experience in commercial banking, strategy and business information. Uzoka has also served in other areas in the bank including  e-banking and information technology in its New York and London offices in addition to strategic support groups such as human resources, legal advisory services, procurement and vendor management, corporate relations and marketing.

UBA is one of the leading banks in Africa with presence in 19 countries and offices in three global financial centers - London, Paris, and New York.
