British journalist, Mike Rutherford, the director and vice chairman of the awards, commended the company, adding that no other auto company had secured this many nominations.

“Jaguar and Land Rover are enduring British brands that have never been stronger or more popular. For Jaguar Land Rover to have secured six nominations across four categories is a brilliant achievement. No other automotive manufacturing group has so many finalists at the 2016 World Car Awards."

Finbar McFall, Jaguar Land Rover Global Product Marketing Director, said the nominations were proof of the company's ability to make desirable cars.

According to Vanguard, the British automaker's cars are battling for the '2016 World Car of the Year' and 'World Car Design of the Year' title.

Jaguar XE sports saloon and Land Rover Discovery are the representatives in the above categories.
