State government collaborates with Lafarge Africa Plc to solve housing problems

Ogun State and Lafarge Africa Plc have formed a partnership in order to deal with the housing issues.

Ogun state is working towards solving the challenges faced by Nigeria’s housing sector.

Hence, the need for the partnership with Lafarge Africa Plc.

According to Babajide Odusolu, managing Director, Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC),  the collaboration is almost complete as it is at it's final stage.

While speaking on “Housing Deficit in Developing Economies: Challenges, Prospects” in a lecture, he revealed that Nigeria needs 17 million housing units annually in order to bridge gap in housing industry.

Sadly, he said, Nigerians do not have enough vocational skills acquisition required in the course of building and construction of housing facilities in the country, hence, the heavy reliance of Nigeria’s housing industry on the skills and expertise acquired from the neighbouring countries.

This partnership between Ogun state and Lafarge Africa Plc is expected to provide Nigerians with advanced construction technological skills.
