Country to benefit from Bill Gates’ $776M hunger fund
This was disclosed on Thursday, June 4, 2015, by Mrs Gates during a meeting with European leaders in Brussels.
The fund is to be used in tackling hunger in Nigeria and four other countries over the next six years.
“Malnutrition is the underlying cause of nearly half of all under-5 child deaths. Yet for too long the world has under-invested in nutrition. Today we see an opportunity to change that,” Melinda Gates said.
“Many European donors are now prioritizing nutrition, which we believe will be one of the fundamental solutions to help cut child mortality in half by 2030,” she added.
Other countries who will benefit from the fund are India, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Burkina Faso.
