Rapid Response Squad arrests 2 traffic robbers

Two traffic robbers have been arrested in Lagos state.

Odunayo Mustapha and Adedayo Akinjola were arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos Police Command on New Year's eve.

One of the policemen revealed that the gang operated on motorcycles.

"We were able to intercept the fleeing robbers when their victim, a young lady, screamed that her mobile phone had been snatched. Immediately, we gave the fleeing suspects a chase which led to the arrest of two of them while the third suspect later identified as made away with the stolen phone."

Confirming the arrest, the command spokesman, DSP Joe Offor, announced that his team was working hard to catch the third suspect.

Last year, this same squad nabbed three traffic robbers in Oshodi.

During the arrest, Mustapha, one of the robbers revealed that what led him to steal.

“I am a bus conductor in Oshodi. I am from Ibadan and a secondary school dropout. I sleep in Ojuwoye, Mushin. I am an ex – convict. I don’t want to go to prison again. Government should please have mercy on me. I was frustrated into traffic robbery. I won’t do it again."
