"Keke Napep" rider gets arrested for causing traffic
In a bid to escape arrest for causing traffic, a "Keke Napep" rider smashed a Lagos mobile court bus.
The Nation reports that Oketa backed into the mobile court bus, marked ALL 741 DX, while trying to avoid his arrest.
Oketa, along with other five tricycle operators, were eventually arrested and tried by Magistrate Olalekan Aka-Bashorun.
Their offences included picking passengers at an undesignated bus-stop, which created traffic on Allen Avenue, Ikeja.
Aka-Bashorun, the magistrate, found them guilty and ordered them to pay fines ranging from N25,000 to N50,000 with 48 hours community service, as an option to six months imprisonment.
The Lagos mobile court was launched on Friday, February 5th.
It was inaugurated to dispense justice as soon as the offenders were arrested.
So far, 52 violators have been arrested, with 41 convicted for traffic offences, and counting.
