Mobile court sentences 9 traffic offenders to 2 months imprisonment
A mobile court has found nine road traffic offenders guilty of driving with fake drivers' licence, non functioning rear breaking light, more.
According to PM News, they were arraigned before a mobile court in Benin, the state capital.
There, the prosecutor, Aigbedion Obakpalor, read out their charges, which included driving with expired drivers' licence, fake drivers' licence, non functioning rear breaking light, driving without certificate of insurance, driving without wearing driver’s badge, more.
Obakpalor said these offences were against section 7 of the road traffic law cap 148 of the Bendel State of Nigeria 1976.
Frank Idiake, the presiding chief magistrate, sentenced them to two months imprisonment.
He added an option of fines, ranging from N20,000 N40,000 and N60, 000, depending on their respective offences.
