Aliko Dangote Billionaire’s Lekki refinery to cost $11bn

The proposed Dangote Refinery Complex and Fertilizer Plant in Lagos State will cost an estimated $11 billion, an official has said.

The plant is expected to produce 650,000 barrels per day and is located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFZ) area of the state.

The figure was revealed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Olusola Senapon Oworu during a recent press briefing.

“As we speak, tremendous construction work is ongoing on the Dangote site. The project is envisaged to create 20,000 jobs during construction,” Oworu said.

She said further that about 8,000 engineers would be required for the project which would come on stream by the end of 2016.

Oworu also said that several other high profile investors had begun to occupy the zone.
