Ayo Fayose arrests traffic offender, receives commendation from FRSC

The arrest of a traffic offender by Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, is admirable.

Ayo Fayose.

On Thursday, October 15th, the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, arrested a traffic offender.

ThisDay reports that Fayose spotted the traffic offender, Adeola Alabi, driving against traffic and arrested him on his way to inaugurate the completion of the Ado-Ikere-Iju dualisation and the down-town market stalls in the town.

"Alabi had taken  the left side of the road with intention to dodge the dilapidated portion of the dual carriage way, which infuriated the governor who was on that rough portion of the road.immediately ordered that the vehicle should be taken to the office of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency in Ado Ekiti, with directive that all necessary fines must be paid."

Initially, it was reported that the offender was an official of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

However, the Ekiti Command of the FRSC has released a statement which states that Mr. Alabi is not its payroll, while commending the governor.

“The Ekiti Command of FRSC, through the Sector Commander, Ekiti State Command, Mr , wishes to appreciate His Excellency Governor for accosting and eventually arresting a road traffic offender on 15th October, 2015 along Ikere Road Ado Ekiti. We want to place on record, that the (traffic) offender arrested by the Executive Governor of Ekiti state, His Excellency, , the said Mr is not a staff of Federal Road Safety Commission. We wish to place on record that the said traffic offender, from all available records, is not a staff of FRSC as a regular marshal or a volunteer special marshal. The said offender could be an impersonator or rather a dismissed special marshal who is still using old sticker of special marshals."

Do you think the governor was right to arrest the traffic offender?
