Tom Cruise stunt injury halts filming [Video]

Tom Cruise injured himself after he crashed into a building while filming an action sequence in the upcoming "Mission Impossible 6."

Tom Cruise broke his ankle on set of Mission Impossible 6

In an attempt to jump between buildings, the actor slammed into a wall and was seen limping.

According to the director, Christopher McQuarrie, Cruise was actually supposed to hit the wall, unfortunately, he hit the wrong angle during what was his fourth take.

“On the fourth try, he hit the building at a slightly different angle and he broke his ankle. He knew the instant that he hit the building that his ankle was broken. You can see it on his face. He knew in that instant," McQuarrie said to Empire.

Production for the movie has been put on hold until the 55-year-old star is strong enough to continue filming.

"Mission Impossible 6" is still on track for a July 27, 2018, release. According to a statement released by Paramount, the actor is thankful for the support he has received since his accident and can't wait to share the movie with everyone next summer.

Cruise is one of the few actors who insist on doing their own stunts. In 2015, it was revealed that the stunt in 'Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation," which saw him hanging on the outside of an airplane while it took off, was real.

Hanging off the side of an airplane wasn’t the only stunt Cruise performed in 'Mission Impossible: Rogue of Nation,' he also held his breath for six minutes in an underwater scene.

"Mission: Impossible 6" also stars Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, Angela Bassett and Alec Baldwin.
