Tom Cruise will be returning as Ethan Hunt for a sixth 'Mission: Impossible,'  sooner than expected.

The actor revealed that shooting could start as early as a year from now on Tuesday night’s 'The Daily Show,' while promoting the upcoming 5th installment

“We’re starting to work on it now. We’ll probably start shooting it next summer,” he told Jon Stewart.

The shooting is coming up earlier than the previous films in the franchise which have all been separated by a minimum of four years (1996, 2000, 2006 and 2011).

The 'Mission: Impossible' franchise has grossed a total of  $2 billion at the worldwide box office.

The latest sequel 'Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation' will hit 2D and IMAX theaters July 31.

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the upcoming 'Mission: Impossible' stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Simon McBurney and Rebecca Ferguson.

Plot.

Ethan and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate - an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF.
