English actress, Annabelle Wallis shared a photo of herself with Tom Cruise, Jake Johnson and Courtney B. Vance on Instagram on July 311, 2016. "#THEMUMMY in Africa. #Namibia, you are beautiful and we are so excited to be here. Thank you for having us!" she wrote alongside it.
The movie set to be released on June 9, 2017 has been described as:
"Though safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters."
The reboot will feature Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe.
Directed by Alex Kurtzman, who also produces alongside Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel, "The Mummy Reboot" is scheduled to be the first film in the Universal Monster cinematic universe.
The original series of films consisted of six installments in which starred iconic horror actors such as Boris Karloff (only in the original one, as Imhotep); Tom Tyler and Lon Chaney Jr. as Kharis; and lastly Eddie Parker, who played Klaris, a cousin of Kharis.
