“Spider-Man: Homecoming” Sequel gets 2019 release date

Sony Pictures has announced that a sequel to the anticipated 2017 "Spider-Man: Homecoming" superhero film will debut in 2019.

Following the release of an official trailer for "Spider-Man: Homecoming," Sony Pictures has announced a release date for its sequel.

A Homecoming sequel which will continue to explore the adventures of Tom Holland as Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will make its debut on July 5, 2019.

The first "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie which premieres on July 2017, also stars Marisa Tomei as "Aunt May," the adoptive mother of Peter Parker, Robert Downey Jnr as Iron Man Donald Clover, Abraham Attah, Michael Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green, Kenneth Choi and Zendaya.

Directed by Jon Watts, Sony Pictures is financing and will release the next instalment of the $4 billion Spider-Man franchise.
 
"Spider-Man" is currently the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures. Holland made his debut as the superhero in "Captain America: Civil War."
