There was an unexpected power outage at the 2016 edition of the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards. Here's what awards founder has to say.

The 2016 Africa Movie Academy Awards held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Dr. Obi Wali Event Centre, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

The event was interrupted by power outage for over 20 minutes.

Founder of the 'Africa's premier and most prestigious film Awards,' Peace Anyiam Osigwe, finally addressed the outage.

According to her, the event was not powered on Nepa. She addressed this while commending Kingsley Ogoro for directing the 2016 edition of awards.

"My brother my friend, my Mr Technical, the Transmission did not go justice to your work and our team. As we place it on other platforms maybe just maybe the real sincere people will value the work you do. And as all of you scream NEPA, please how daft are you to imagine we would power an event on NEPA.

"It was 850KVa Generator and. Back up Generator plus beautiful Torrential rain,with beautiful thunder storms and lightning.So when a Generator blows in a middle of torrential rain,you risk lives to reconnect,?Sir K ,Kingsley Ogoro.May baba God Bless mucho,my amigo .15 minutes down time and no lives lost."
