'Awards in Nigeria are not credible,' begs fans not to vote for him

Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has appealed to his fans not to vote for him in the 'best actor' category of the 2016 City People Entertainment Awards.

According to the actor who took to Instagram to make the appeal, he is not interested and considers most of the film awards in Nigeria not credible enough.

"Hello fellas, my name is Ibrahim Abiodun Chatta. I'd like to appeal to my friends, fans and folks not to vote for me on d city people's best actor of d year nomination. PLS DO NOT VOTE FOR ME , as I am not interested and I believe most of d film awards in Nigeria are not credible enough. So I won't allow anybody or organization rubbish my GOD given talents. Ire ooo"

Ibrahim Chatta is an actor and director, known for Odun baku, Òmìn, Awure eni among others.

During the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Ghanaian star Yvonne Nelson,  took to her Twitter account to describe awards system in Africa as 'who they cool with awards.'

In 2015, the actress stated that awards are meaningless, after “Beasts of No Nation” won 12 awards out of 15 nominations at the 2015 Ghana Movie Awards .

During a recent exclusive interview with Pulse Nigeria, Bimbo Akintola shared her thoughts on the Nigerian awards system. According to the veteran, the Nigerian award system doesn't inspire anyone.
