"Empire" star replies 'haters' over controversial sex scene on show

Following Wednesday's episode of Empire, which saw Becky (Gabourey Sidibe) and her boyfriend have sex, mean comments and memes surfaced online.

If you have seen last week’s episode of "Empire,” then you must know about the sex scene between Becky (Gabourey Sidibe) and her love interest, MC J Poppa (Mo McRae), which led to some cruel comments from fans.

In a blog post for EW about the episode, Gabourey responded to critics who fat shammed her for the scene.

“Also, yes. I, a plus sized, dark-skinned woman, had a love scene on primetime television. I had the most fun ever filming that scene even though I was nervous. But I felt sexy and beautiful and I felt like I was doing a good job.

I’m very proud of the work we all did to make that scene a great opening for the episode. I keep hearing that people are “hating” on it. I’m not sure how anyone could hate on love but that’s okay.

The next episode of “Empire” airs on Wednesday, November 11, 2015.
