"Doctor Strange," "The Jungle Book" 20 films shortlisted for 2016 VFX Oscar race

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have shortlisted 20 films in the Visual Effects (VFX) category to advance in the 89th Academy Awards race.

20 films have been chosen for the Visual Effects (VFX) category for the 2017 Oscars race.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science announced that the 20 films will advance in the voting process.

Later this month, members of the Visual Effects Branch will select 10 films for final Oscar consideration.

The nominations will be announced live on January 24, 2017. The 89th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
