3 reasons why you should be watching this weird, mysterious show

"American Gods" is the new show everyone is talking about. It's horrid, full of nudity, sex and captivating.

It could be a difficult watch, especially, if you suck at handling violence and nudity.

In "American Gods," a recently released ex-convict named Shadow meets a mysterious man who calls himself "Wednesday" and who knows more than he first seems to about Shadow's life and past.

Wednesday who appears to only need Shadow as a bodyguard is the god Odin, who is making his way across America and gathering all the old gods, who have now incorporated themselves into American life, to confront the New Gods.

Despite the violent scenes and all, there are at least three cogent reasons for you to see the new Starz TV series, based on the 2001 cult novel by Neil Gaiman.

Check them out;

1. It's weird, intense and mysterious

If you like weird, then "American Gods" is the show for you. The show has got lots of weird scenes that would leave you pausing and thinking.

There's Bilquis, who eats people up with her vagina. Bilquis swallowing her lover through her vagina in the first episode is all you need to know that you’re in for a very weird eight-episode series.

2. You get to learn about new cultures and beliefs

Just like the book, "American Gods" is a versatile series about America and the gods that people brought with them into the country, and then abandoned.

The series explores several cultures. In the opening scene of episode 2 of the TV series, an Igbo man aboard a slave ship is seen praying in Igbo dialect to Anansi, a god from the gold coast region (now Ghana).

"American Gods" also features a few other gods from Africa including Bilquis (Queen Sheba), The JinnIbis and Anubis.

3. The Cast

Starring Ricky Whittle as ex-con Shadow and Ian McShane as Mr Wednesday, the cast also includes Gillian Anderson and Kristen Chenowith.

The vast cast of "American Gods" deliver intriguing performances with an unbridled zeal that makes it difficult to quit, despite all the bizarreness that comes with the show.

Have you been following "American Gods?" Yes? - what do you think? No? - You definitely should give it a try.
