Summary of episode by Akah;
Truth be told, I had my initial reservations about expressing my take on the issue of #blacklivesmatter as well as the over-arching problem of systemic racism seemingly perpetuated by pockets of the Police against people of black or latino decent in the US. Again, this is such a sensitive issue that it would be an utter mistake for anyone to address it with broad strokes or generalities. However, the events that unfolded over the last 3-4 weeks that saw the killing of African Americans in very questionable circumstances has led me to do this video.Now don't get me wrong, I truly believe that all lives matter but if their people who are systemically targeted and they need our help to lend a voice, it's our duty as people and citizens of the world to do so. Only a year ago, Nigerians had cried out about the kidnap of 200 young ladies gone missing from their school grounds and people from around world rallied around us and lent their voice. We might not have rescued all those girls yet but those voices made the Nigerian government stop in its tracks and begin to pay attention. In the same manner, we lend our voices to the plight of not just Blacks or African Americans in the US but every minority group seeking for a more equitable, more just and safer communities where the color of your skin should never determine your reality as an individual or collective group.
