Singer says Instagram is for the Devil, which feels like an overreaction

Meanwhile, the Devil says Justin Bieber is most definitely not for him

Justin Bieber launched into a passionate rant Tuesday night during his concert in London, according to a Billboard.

The target of Bieber’s scorn: Instagram. The pop singer deleted his account back in August after being bombarded with negative comments about his dating life, per Rolling Stone.

It doesn’t seem like he’ll be re-activating anytime soon. In a video of his tirade captured by one of his fans, Bieber proclaims:

“I don’t want to get my Instagram back. Instagram is for the devil. I’m sure. I think hell is Instagram. I’m like 90 percent sure. We get sent to hell, we get like locked in the Instagram server.”

We have many ideas of what hell could entail: Five straight hours of burpees? Sure. Listening to Bieber’s “Baby” on repeat for an eternity? Most certainly.

But getting locked in an Instagram server? We could probably deal.

In fact, science suggests that Instagram can actually be good for you.

study from the University of Southern California found that people who took photos while touring a city by bus enjoyed it up to 10 percent more than people without camera phones.

That’s because zooming in on all of the photo-worthy details enhances the overall experience, says study author Kristin Diehl, Ph.D.

More research from Saint Joseph’s University also suggests that taking a picture of your food before you eat it could actually make it taste better, hence all the brunch photos that flood your feed on Sundays.

While Biebs doesn’t think the app gives his life—wait for it—Purpose, science agrees that you can go ahead and enjoy your #foodporn if you want.

Plus, if you follow your favorite fitness accounts (ahem, @menshealthmag), Instagram can give you a kick in the ass when you need some #MondayMotivation to get to the gym.

That’s a perk we can get behind.
