"Babachir David Lawal not corrupt" - Umar Duhu

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Engr Babachir David Lawal, is not corrupt, the pioneer North East National Vice Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr Umar Duhu has said.

Babachir David Lawal.

As someone who worked with Babachir during the formation stages of the APC, Duhu says that the SGF has not changed his good character.

“I know the SGF. President Buhari who is now known as Mr. Integrity, a devoted Muslim appointed Engr Babachir David Lawal from Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation with a full knowledge of him and his antecedents not just as a devoted Christian, but an Ordained Pastor,” Duhu said.

“The SGF is trying his humbled best to doing everything humanly possible to reciprocate the magnanimity of Mr. President, by working without fear or favour irrespective of faith, tribe and region.”

“I feel sad when people think senselessly on issues that are ordinarily straight forward. Mr. President and Commander in Chief makes and approves all the appointments. It is absurd and a misnomer to ascribe that responsibility on an innocent Nigerian whose appointment is also at Mr. President's mercy.”

“Aside of the personal aides of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, all other appointments in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation is approved by Mr. President, because the Office falls under the Presidency. And even if a recommendation is sent to Mr. President for any appointment, Mr. President reserves the right to agree or disagree to any such recommendation,” Duhu added.

Duhu said as someone who worked closely with Engr. Babachir David Lawal on the National Executive Committee of the APC on the inception of the party, added that he is one person who has shown love and supported him tremendously during and after his quest to become a member of the National Assembly.

“The modest and disciplined Engr. Babachir I know then is still the same Engr. Babachir. I will be very surprised to hear or see the Engr. Babachir that I know gets associated or is involved in anything unethical. Engr. Babachir David Lawal is not corrupt and will not be,” Umar Duhu added.
