The money was recovered in separate sums of $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million from fireproof safes in the flat.

The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has claimed that the money was allocated to it for covert operations by former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike is also claiming the money which he alleges is part of funds misappropriated by his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi.

Others named in connection with the funds include former Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Tony Anenih.
