Senate rejects own panel’s report on Southern Kaduna crisis

The Senate yesterday rejected an interim report presented by its ad-hoc committee to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the farmers’ and herdsmen’s clashes in southern Kaduna and other parts of the federation.

NNPC reduces trade deficit by 18%

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has reduced its trading deficit to ₦14.26 billion by January end, down from ₦17.01billion recorded in December 2016, representing about 16 per cent improvement.

Non-oil exporters groan under lack of access to dollar proceeds

Non-oil exporters have threatened to cease exports till restrictions limiting access to their proceeds from the interbank market are removed.The interbank market is the official window through which the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) trades on the nation’s currency against its international counterparts.

Fire guts FAAN’s headquarters in Lagos

Fire yesterday gutted the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) headquarters at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
The fire affected the Audit, Communications and Engineering Departments, among others.

EFCC trails politician, banker over N4bn ‘proceeds of crime’ deposit

BARELY 24 hours after it discovered N250 million at a popular Lagos market, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), last night, announced the discovery of another N4 billion suspected to be proceeds of crime. The cash was alleged to belong to a deputy governorship candidate in Niger State.

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged corruption, malpractices and breach of due process in the award of OPL 245 has indicted former President Jonathan for his role in the contentious Malabu oil block deal. Dr Jonathan denies any wrongdoing.
