Acting President in Rwanda for Kagame's inauguration

The Acting President left for the East African country with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

This was disclosed on  Friday, August 18, 2017, by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, who released a press statement to explain the Acting President's trip.

The statement read, "Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, is attending the presidential inauguration of President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, taking place today in Kigali, the country's capital.

"The inauguration ceremony which is expected to be witnessed by several African Heads of State and Government, follows President Kagame's victory at the August 4 Rwandan presidential election."

Osinbajo is accompanied on the trip by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, and is expected back in the country later in the day.

59-year-old Kagame secured 98.66% of the total votes in the presidential election to secure a landslide victory that extends his rule over Rwanda to 17 years.
