The traders spoke to Osinbajo about the increasing cost of wares and shop rent at the Garki Market.

Some traders could not control their joy upon sighting Osinbajo when he arrived at about few minutes past 3pm on Friday, 26 May 2017.

The Acting President was accompanied by Aisha Abubakar, the minister of state trade and investment.

Osinbajo interacted with traders at the market even as they complained about the rising cost of shop rents and wares.

Alhaji Nasiru Maiyaki, a rice seller complained about inadequate storage space in the market.

The Acting President assured the traders that he would speak to market authorities on the annual N250,000 shop rent.

A fish seller also spoke to the acting president on the increasing cost of doing business in Nigeria.

Osinbajo who encouraged the traders urged them to look at the gains of agriculture.

“The more we farm the cost of products will come down,” Osinbajo told the traders.

Laolu Akande, Spokeman to the Acting President who briefed journalists at the end of visit noted that Osinbajo wanted to feel the pulse of Nigerians, two years after the APC-led government took over power.

"He wanted to feel the pulse of Nigerians and hear directly from the people and have one on one with them and assure them that the administration was committed to improve if the economy and ensure life gets better for them,” he said.

Osinbajo however advised traders to keep the prices of food stuff low even as the Ramadan fast begins.
