Ex-President called reps robbers, now they want to probe him

The probe would be focused on a 2007 Obasanjo administration project to provide Primary Healthcare Centres for 774 local governments.

The proposed probe would be focused on a project initiated by the Obasanjo administration in 2007 to provide Primary Healthcare Centres for 774 local governments.

According to The Nation, the impending investigation was hinted at by the Chairman of the House Committee on Legislative Compliance, Olasupo Abiodun during a public presentation on the state of the primary healthcare centres.

Abiodun reportedly said that N100 million was allocated for the purchase of ambulances and other consumables for the local governments, but nothing had been heard about the project since then.

He said further that an ad hoc committee would soon be set up to investigate the project.

Obasanjo, on Wednesday, November 24, described the National Assembly as a den of corruption by a gang of unarmed robbers leading the House to describe him as the “grandfather of corruption.”

The House had, in December 2015, said that it would probe the  $5 million Lake Chad grant which was given to the Lake Chad Basin Commission by the Obasanjo administration.
