Sultan of Sokoto led Islamic movement accuses Army of killing innocent Muslims

The Jama'atu Nasril Islam has accused the Nigerian Army of killing innocent Muslims while battling terrorism.

The Nigerian Army has been accused of embarking on a mission to wipe out Mulsims in the name of battling terrorism.

According to a report by The Punch, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, led Jama’atu Nasril Islam raised the alarm in Kaduna while expressing concerns over the alleged extra-judicial killings of innocent Islamic faithfuls in the country.

In a statement by the Islamic movement, which is widely referred to as JNI, Muslims in some Northern parts of the country are currently feeling unsafe after the alleged killings of 15 Muslims in Keana, Nasarawa State.

The Secretary-General of the JNI, Dr. Khalid  Aliyu, noted that the various cases of massacre of Muslims by the military in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states  under the guise of fighting terrorism were unacceptable.

The statement further alleged that the activities of the Nigerian army against Muslims in Northern Nigeria was a ploy to destabilise the religion faithfuls in Nigeria.

“We can say without any fear of contradiction that there is a grand agenda to destabilise the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria. If any Nigerian is in doubt regarding the hidden agenda to destabilise Muslims in Nigeria, and cautiously reduce their rising human capital, then the Zamfara State incident should have removed this doubt," the statement read in part.

However, there are no words yet from Nigerian Army spokesman, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, over the allegation by the Islamic group.
