Chairman, CAN state’s branch, Rev. Iliya Tsiga, made the call on Tuesday, when he led some members of the association on Sallah homage to Gov. Abdulaziz Yari at his private residence in Talata-Mafara.
According to him, the association wants the governor to consider the appointment of a Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Christian Affairs.
He urged the state government to also establish a department that would cater for the needs of Christians under the state Ministry of Religious Affairs.
While asking for a land to build a CAN secretariat and a cemetery, the chairman said the state government should intervene by allowing Christians to develop their own places of worship.
He described the relationship between Christians and Muslims in the state as cordial which he said must be maintained.
He recalled giving appointment to some members of the association during his first term in office and promised to do the same soon.
Yari reassured the association that their other demands would be looked into by the government.
