In Jigawa Council donates mattresses, uniform to school gutted by fire

The items worth over N500,000, were presented to the Director of the college by the council’s Caretaker Committee Chairman.

The Birninkudu Local Government Council of Jigawa has donated 61 mattresses and eight bundles of school uniform to the Government College, Birninkudu, which building was gutted by fire.

The Information Officer of the local government, Alhaji Mustafa Namadi, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse.

Namadi said that the items worth over N500,000, were presented to the Director of the college, Alhaji Haruna Muhammad, by the council’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Garba.

He said that the gesture was to cushion the effect of fire on the school.

The information officer noted that fire recently burnt one of the school’s hostels, thereby inflicting hardship on the management and students of the school.

The spokesperson said that the council desired that the school utilised the materials well.

He added that the students should avoid actions that could result in fire outbreak especially in harmattan season.
