Estate agent docked over alleged N565,000 fraud

Toriola of no fixed address is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Eigbejiale, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in 2016 at No. 16, Adikat Abeni St., Leme Ijeun Titun, Abeokuta.

Eigbejiale also said that Toriola, who claimed to be an estate agent, obtained N565,000 from the complainant, Mr John Meshioye with the pretext of getting shops for him.

He said the accused did not get the shops for the complainant but converted the money to his own use.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oriyomi Sofowora, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to April 19 for hearing.
