Lagos airport police command cautions officers against flouting FG’s Order

The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on May 18, signed an executive order aimed streamlining the activities of various aviation and security agencies.

The spokesperson for the Lagos Airport Police Command, DSP Joseph Alabi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the warning was issued by the police commissioner at a recent meeting with the officers.

He said that the Commissioner, Mr Basan Gwana, had warned that any officer caught flouting the order, which is already being implemented at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, would be dealt with accordingly.

“The Airport Police Command is fully committed to the implementation of the executive order, with the support and cooperation of other agencies at the airport.

“At a meeting held recently with officers, the CP warned that anybody caught flouting the order will face an immediate disciplinary action,’’ Alabi said.

According to him, the officers have also been removed from some parts of the terminal, while all the screening desks had been collapsed into one, in compliance with the order.

He said that with the new arrangement, touting had drastically reduced at the airport, as only people with legitimate businesses were allowed into the terminal.

Alabi said the command would continue to intensify efforts geared toward securing the airport and its environs, to guarantee the safety of passengers, airline operators and other users.
