'70% of recovered loot was from the doorstep of the executive,' says Na’Allah

Senator Bala Na’Allah, the lawmaker representing Kebbi South Senatorial district has accused the executive of corruption.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, Na’Allah said 70% of the funds recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were from the doorstep of the executive arm of government.

“You look at the nature of the offence before you determine the control strategy,” the lawmaker said.

“Happily enough, with what we have heard and seen today, you can convincingly see that the entire recoveries associated with this country today has depicted that over 70% of what has been alleged to have been recovered by the EFCC and ICPC were recovered from the executive arm of government.

“Despite the recoveries, what measures have been put in place to make it practically impossible for what has been recovered not to be stolen?

“We are aware that 70% of the recoveries have come from the doorstep of the executive. So the preventive measures should be targeted at that arm of government,” he added.

Na’Allah called for a law that would ‘stop or reduce to the barest minimum the stealing' of government money.
