Aremu says they deserve sympathy not inhuman politicking

Aremu said that the girls, who he described as “daughters of many of us since 2014’’ would have graduated from secondary school.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari (centre) met the 82 rescued Chibok girls after their release in a prisoner swap deal

Aremu, who made the statement while addressing press conference on Friday in Kaduna,  said the freed girls “are not just girls or mere statistics, but future workers and mothers.

“IndustriALL global union identifies with the struggle for the release of the abducted Chibok school girls."

“We condemn in strong terms, the silly doubt expressed by some of our political leaders about the abducted girls."

“This has increasingly devalued the notion of statesmanship of some of our leaders that trivialises every serious issue,’’ he said.

Aremu said that the girls, who he described as “daughters of many of us since 2014’’ would have graduated from secondary school and even moved to universities.

“We should not turn the tragedy of parents of the Chibok girls to cheap political fortune."

“Let there be no political capital out of the agonies of the girls and their parents."

“We commend President Muhammadu Buhari for the release of additional 82 of the abducted Chibok school girls,’’ Aremu said.

The labour leader said that Buhari had recorded security feat by securing the release of more abducted Chibok girls.

“However the release of the abducted girls who returned as unwilling ‘mothers’ after 3 years of captivity cannot be Nigeria’s anniversary gift."

“In the first place, the school girls and many others held in captive ought not to have been kidnapped."

“Nobody has been held responsible for their abduction; there is nothing really to celebrate but much to think over,“ he declared
