The meeting is believed to be connected to the outbreak of violence in Ondo following the announcement of Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 26 governorship election.
Ibrahim’s candidacy was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday, October 27.
The decision has caused controversy due to Ibrahim’s replacement of Eyitayo Jegede who was earlier chosen as the party’s candidate.
Ibrahim is a member of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP while Jegede is a member of the Ahmed Makarfi faction.
The PDP has been rocked by a leadership crisis since it attempted to remove Sheriff from the position of chairman in May.
