Buhari returned from London, United Kingdom, on Saturday, August 19, where he had been on medical leave for over 100 days.

Despite the criticisms and controversies that trailed his prolonged absence, Buhari's return was met with even more condemnation following his first national address on Monday, which many including a former minister of education, Oby Ezekwesili, described as "a terrible case of missed opportunity."

In the speech Buhari addressed issues such as the country's unity as well as Boko Haram's resurgence in the north.

However, many criticised him for not addressing persistent questions about his ill health that kept him out of the country for 103 days.
