Presidential Committee delivers relief materials to IDPs in Cameroon

The NEMA spokesman said that the gesture was in furtherance to the humanitarian efforts of the Federal Government.

Malam Sani Datti, spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said in a statement in Maiduguri that the gesture was in furtherance to the humanitarian efforts of the Federal Government through the agency.

The items, which comprised mostly non-food items, were presented by the Director, Search and Rescue of NEMA, Air Commodore Salisu Mohammed, to the Cameroonian authorities at Minawao, Far North Region of the country.

The items included 1,941 pillows; 1,214 mattresses; 4,646 sandals; 1,520 mosquito nets; 990 blankets; 3,990 clothing; 3,946 sanitary pads and 1,957 plastic buckets.

Other materials were 4,032 notebooks; 3,984 exercise books; 12,240 plastic plates; 4,800 plastic cups; 960 plastic spoons; 9920 baby mats; 36,000 toilet soaps and 4,032 pencils.

The food items included 597 bags of sugar, 300 bags of millets, 500 cartons of noodles, 201 cartons of peak milk, 200 cartons of milo, 200 kegs of oil and 23800 sachets of salt.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items were distributed by the UNHCR officials to the displaced Nigerians based on households.
