This was made known to Pulse by Dr. Muideen Akorede, who is the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

He also said Kwara State share of the refund was used for infrastructure projects, to support small and medium scale businesses as well as pay salaries and pensions at state and local government levels.

"The public is therefore advised to disregard spurious and completely unsubstantiated claims made by a guest on a national television program on Thursday or similar assertions on any other platform to the effect that part of the state's share of the refund was paid to a former governor of the state and current or to any other party", Akorede reaffirmed in a statement.

He added that "It is not the state government's practice to make payments to individuals or organizations without appropriation".
