Simone Biles delivered an EPIC response to a DWTS Judge who told her to smile

She handled it like a true champ...literally.

However, Simone had a tough time on Monday’s show, with judges criticizing her for not bringing enough emotion to her routines. But things got really real when DWTS host Tom Bergeron asked the Olympic gold medalist why she wasn’t smiling when judges gave her props.

Her response was quick and awesome: “Smiling doesn’t win you gold medals.”

People responded on Twitter immediately with some serious praise for the 20-year-old:

The judges have been tough on Simone, and she talked about that with Entertainment Tonight after the show. “I feel like everyone has their own opinion, clearly, and I feel it’s just how you take it,” she said. “I feel like I am trying, I am being honest, but if they don’t see that, I don’t know what more I can do.”

Simone isn’t the only celeb who has gotten criticized for something as silly as her facial expression. Her Olympic teammate Gabby Douglas faced heat last summer at the Rio games for everything from not smiling to her hairstyle. "Did I choose my hair texture?," she said of the backlash. "No. I'm grateful for having this hair on my head. When you read that hurtful stuff you're like 'OK, wow.'"

Clearly it's never OK to criticize anyone's appearance, but the way these women handled it was beyond epic.
