“Anxiety was a huge hurdle for me to deal with this past year (and security concerns didn’t help), but I think I’m finally learning how to cope,” says Jenner
Kendall Jenner opened up about some of the peaks and pits of 2016 in a recent post on her website, and along with the many high points she celebrated this year (landing the September cover of Vogue, traveling the world, turning 21), she revealed that her lows included missing her family and coping with serious anxiety.
“Anxiety was a huge hurdle for me to deal with this past year (and security concerns didn’t help), but I think I’m finally learning how to cope,” says Jenner in her post.
In a separate post, she describes a recent panic attack she had on an airplane. “I felt my heart beating a million miles an hour, and I even went a little numb,” she says.
But she’s taking steps to deal with it. On the road, she practices breathing exercises to cope. “It’s all mental, so I try to prevent anxiety attacks by bringing my mind somewhere else,” she writes. Jenner also recently painted a room of her house pink, as revealed on her Instagram, since she says in another post that studies have shown the color helps promote calmness.
This isn't the first time Kendall has alluded to her struggles with anxiety. In an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians last year, she admitted that sometimes in the middle of the night when she’s sleeping, she’ll wake up unable to move, a condition doctors say sounds like sleep paralysis.
Cheers to Kendall for opening up about her struggles and helping to fight the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
