An engaged couple who survived the Tunisian beach attack have called off their wedding and ended their eight-year relationship in the aftermath of the massacre.

26-yr-old Kirsty Murray and 29-yr-old Radley Ruszkiewicz called their relationship quits five months after the Tunisian attack in June this year which left 38 dead.

The couple who were holidaying in the North African country became separated during the attack but were reunited 24-hrs later.

But the memories of that deadly day tore them apart, though they were given a second chance to be together.

Kristy was shot five times in the legs by Seifeddine Rezgui while she and her fiancé were running for their lives.

The couple say they both changed in the wake of the massacre, became devastated and both decided to give each other space.

Kristy and Radley were unable to recover from the shock of the attack and began to grow apart. They eventually called of the relationship five months later.

"Radley's very protective - I think he felt guilty he hadn't been able to protect me and that my injuries were worse than his," she said admitting that she fought to save her dying relationship.

"I wish we could have talked it through in person but it's too painful. I really hope one day we can be friends. We've been through so much.

"My life has been turned upside down and it's hard to accept that if it hadn't been for the terror attack, I'd still be with Radley.

"But I have to keep reminding myself I'm lucky to be here. So many others weren't so fortunate," Kristy said.
