This tear-jerking wedding picture is everything

Well-arranged wedding pictures are great, but the rare, candid ones are perfect.

So on April 30 2017, photographer James Day was taking wedding pictures for the couple who tied the knot in Bowral, Australia.

As usual, he was setting them up for some posed sunset photos when a better idea occurred to him.

With a Facebook post, James says, “just as the light became amazing, I scrapped everything I knew and I walked up to them and said, ‘Guys, stop posing. Just enjoy your first sunset together as husband and wife,’”

He then faces the Adrian and says to him, “I have a question for you, but I want you to tell the answer to Roslyn and not me.

Out of the billions of people on the planet, you’ve chosen to spend the rest of your life with Roslyn. Can you tell her why?”

By the time the groom whispered his response in the bride’s ear, tears just began streaming down her face.

Even without knowing what Adrian had told her, the photographer caught on raw emotion in that moment and snapped all of it, with tears on his own face, too.

“It wasn’t for me to hear,” Day told HuffPost. “I had him whisper it in her ear because it’s for her ears only.”

“This is what I love to photograph,” he adds. “Not the overly posed interactions.”
