Mo'Nique Comedian/Actress & husband share how to make an open marriage work

You may remember Mo'Nique as the plus-sized actress with the relentless crush on Professor Oglevee in the television series, "The Parkers", but these days Mo'Nique is happily married to actor/producer Sidney Hicks, and a strong proponent of open marriage.

The couple were guests on television show, The Preacher where they revealed the secret to their successful open marriage.

Monique who revealed that the idea of having an open marriage was hers said, "I’m an entertainer…and there may be times when I feel like being with other men”.

She added that she proposed the idea of an open marriage because she wanted "to be honest with the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with.”

Speaking further, Mo'Nique said:

“My best friend (husband) said to me, ‘Mama, I’ve loved you since the 10th grade. Do you think you being with another man is going to have anything to do with me loving you? Then he said, do you know if you can be with other men, I can be with other women?’ That’s not what I meant now."

Explaining how the open marriage works, Sidney said being in an open marriage means "being open to conversation, being open to the fact that man and woman, as a couple should be there for one another"
