27-yr-old Kristy Sutton was sexually abused by a family friend George Spooner from age nine but personally delivered her invitation to him when she was ready to wed husband, Barry
Speaking on Jeremy Kyle show, Sutton from King's Lynn, Norfolk, explained why she invited Spooner and described the moment she finally told her husband the truth.
"He always told me if I told anyone I only had him and I'd lose my family and ultimately he was right, because even when I spoke out I lost my family. They couldn't deal with it.
"I was never petrified of him I was petrified of everything that surrounded it.
'The fact he had manipulated my family in such a way they already hated me", she said.
At 23, the bride, her husband and two children had visited Spooner to hand over her wedding invite personally.
Barry said he could tell there was something wrong. The way he was looking at her, his mannerisms and his choice of words.
Kristy and her then fiancé argued after he accused her of sleeping with Spooner. She then decided to tell him about the abuse out of anger.
Barry who was shocked by what he heard had left Kristy to stay at his parent's house.
"I had no one. I remember standing in my kitchen... I had my two children, they were the only thing that kept me alive at that time," she said.
George was present at the couple's wedding, smiling at the cameras and taking photos
"It was the worst day of my life with the best outcome. He was the last face I saw before I walked down the aisle," she said.
The couple have been together for seven years but Barry says they have had intimacy issues as he feels he can't say or use some words he used to say to her.
"There's certain words or terms I wouldn't say to her because I knew he used to say them to her," he says.
"These people, it's not just the child they target. They manipulate everyone and everything.
"They got the child to trust them in such a way they believe that's all they have, " Kristy said, speaking on child abusers in general.
The bride told Jeremy Kyle that one of the group photos in which Spooner was smiling always made her sick to her stomach. "That picture makes me feel sick," she said.
George Spooner, also known as Paul Reed, was found guilty of two counts of indecent assault and three sample charges of rape at Norwich Crown Court in July 2015 and was jailed for 18 years.
He was also sentenced to an additional five years on license and added to the Sex Offenders' Register.
