Charlotte and Jonathan's romantic Italian wedding

Charlotte Curtis, 29, office manager at High Society Brides, Cowbridge, walked down the aisle with software developer Jonathan Day, 30, in the picturesque village of Maiori in Italy.

On why they chose that particular venue for their wedding, the bride said: "Jonathan and his family have been going to the same place in southern Italy since he was six months old.

"When we started going out 15 years ago, he took me there and I loved it instantly. We have a lot of friends in Maiori and we don't have huge families so we thought it made sense to do it there, in a place we love."

When asked how she chose her wedding dress, she said: "Working at High Society means I have access to hundreds of beautiful dresses, but that actually made it more difficult to find the one.

"I kept seeing a bride come in and look amazing, then change my mind about mine. But eventually I decided on a gown with a big skirt and flattering sweetheart neck – just what I wanted. Suzanne actually made it bespoke to me.

"All the girls in the boutique helped me pick it and told me bright white was perfect, and they were right, it looked great in the Italian sun. My four-year-old niece, , wore a dress by , who designed the flower girl dresses for the royal wedding. My bridesmaids, and , wore gowns in ."

About the wedding day, Curtis said: "We married in the town hall, which has a beautiful fresco ceiling, then we all drank lemon granite and had a drinks reception on the main street, followed by another at a bar owned by a friend of Jonathan's.

"It seemed like fate as two years before we got married, the hotel where we had the reception was a ruin at the side of a hill. It had been turned into this gorgeous five-star hotel just in time for us!

"We ate Italian canapes by the pool and ate lobster risotto, lemon ravioli and sea bass on the terrace. We danced our first dance under the stars to which seemed apt."

And after the wedding... "The hotel laid on a three-wheel car or 'piaggio' to take Jonathan and I from the ceremony and the driver kept tooting and waving to passers-by, who would shout 'auguri' (well wishes). I'll never forget that.

"Along with getting married itself, it's one of the memories I know I'll keep."
