Unarguably, there is a difference between shopping and shopping smart. One of them can sometimes be maddening, as the other is ever rewarding. As a matter of fact, shopping much does not always align with shopping smart; rather, it is that exciting feeling, which comes as a result of a successful shopping expedition that puts confirmation to a smart shopping.

In other words, you know you have shopped smartly when you leave the mall with a certain kind of excitement.

On the contrary, majority of people don't leave the mall or shop with this feel. They sometimes get irritated on the things purchased by themselves upon getting home. And in reality, the majority of these terrible shoppers are found in the cycle of women and girls.

And, it is for this reason we decided to offer shopping mall tips for women and girls.

What are the shopping tips for women and girls?

1. Check prices online

Retailers at outlet stores have succeeded in mastering the art of enticing customers to spend. They know what shoppers are looking for.  And they also know how to make deals 'look' discounted.

So before leaving home for the mall to shop, know the cost of what you intend shopping for before hand. This will not only help plan your budget, it will also give you a surer ground during negotiation.

2. Have a list

You are likely to overspend or buy things that were not originally intended. And funny enough, you might as well end up not using them. Learn to prepare before embarking on a shopping voyage. Review what you have before enlisting your needs.

They should be genuine and important; and remember to use that list when you find yourself inside the mall. Start the buying from top to bottom as you cancel out purchased items. And please return home when the list has ended.

3. Have a budget

Don't go shopping without a budget if you do not intend to spend more than planned; for certainly, you will be lured from store to stores. Your eyes will never meet with satisfaction. However, to prevent this prevalent shopping mistake, ensure you have a 'cap' on how much you plan to spend. No more, no less.

4. Know when to go shopping

This is one of the most common emotional triggers that prompt people to shop unconsciously and therefore not smartly. Some certain feelings should not be felt right before or during shopping.

And this is because they are likely to throw you off self balance from the onset. Particularly, if you are feeling any of those emotions – you are tired, hungry, lonely, bored, and upset – don’t go shopping. Try engage yourself with something else until you feel more emotionally active to proceed with your shopping.

5. Try to time yourself

Don't go around playing the role of a loiter in a shopping mall all in the name of buying right. There are people who would even prefer to shop in a purposeless fashion, whiling away precious time; of course, to them the time is not precious but to you it should be.

If you want to shop smart, set a specific time for yourself by timing yourself. And try as much as you can to complete your shopping within the self-given time.

Two additional tips for online shopping

1. Shop with familiar website: For the good of yourself, shop with a trusted site instead of shopping with a search engine. Search results can be manipulated to lead you astray, especially when you drift past the first few pages of links. If you know the site, chances are it's less likely to be a rip off.

We all know and that it carries everything anybody can possibly want; likewise, just about every major retail outlet has an online store, from Target to Best Buy to Home Depot.

Beware of misspellings or sites using a different top-level domain (.net instead of .com, for example) because those are the oldest tricks in the book. Yes, the sales on these sites might look enticing, but that's the bait they use in tricking you into giving up your info.

2. Identify the lock: Please, never ever, ever shop online using your credit card from a site that doesn't have SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption installed at the very least. You'll know if the site has SSL because the URL for the site will start with HTTPS:// (instead of just HTTP://).

An icon of a locked padlock will appear, typically in the status bar at the bottom of your web browser, or right next to the URL in the address bar.

It depends on your browser. Never, ever give anyone your credit card over email. Ever. And in saying ever, I mean never!

In conclusion, you should be reminded on the importance of knowing thyself. It is not an intelligent thing to go shopping because a product is portrayed in the show-glass of trendiness.

Know what you like. Know the things that lends you smile. Spend your money on your favourites; because they have a way of leaving with you- the sweet feeling of excitement.
